Who I Am
Hi there, I'm Chantal Clark, AKA Draekaar Draconigenae. I'm a college student at Conestoga College in Kitchener, Ontario. I currently am in the Information Technology Support Services program. In this program we learn a variety of things about computers, from the hardware to web design, to programming in Visual Studio. There will be a co-op, but that's not until January 2012.
Outside of school, I've been an art hobbyist for a few years now, buying my first tablet just over 3 years ago. Since then I've practised hard and finally come to a style and level that I'm happy with! In my galleries, you'll see some of my better works, pieces that I'm most happy with.
Recently, I've started delving into costume-making. So far I've made mostly parts, such as tails ears and paws, with one completed head, to date. I find it enjoyable to be able to create something like a costume, that can bring a character to life! I do all of the sewing by hand, each and every seam stitch, excepting those on less forgiving fabrics. You can find picture examples of my work in costuming in my galleries.
I became interested in computers at a young age. My dad, being a programmer, had several computers around the house, so the presence of computers was constant. I didn't have a computer of my own until I was about 11 or 12, and even then it had hardware and software issues. These issues, and taking apart some older machines, are what I believe initially spurred my interest in computer repair. A few years later, I decided to try my hand at website design. Back then, I just didn't have the knowledge to get much further than the simplest of sites, but that didn't stop me from trying to learn more! I often questioned my dad for advice on various website codings, but it wasn't until I started attending college that I was able to really learn how to make a fully functional site. Since that class in first term, I am more confident than ever in my ability to code websites.
I became interested in drawing when a fellow classmate of mine showed me some drawings of dragons that he did. I had done sporadic drawing as a child with cheap watercolour paint sets, but this event in middle school is what got me to drawing actively. I started with dragons, and have since expanded to working with various animals and scenery. While I work primarily in a digital medium, I also work in traditional medium using pencils, inks, and Prismacolour Markers.
More recently, I've received an M1 licence and passed a safety course on motorcycle riding. Not wholly relevant to my portfolio, but it's one of my interests and part of who I am :)
Thanks for visiting! 8D
